چکیده

The existence of a normal-state spectral gap in underdoped cuprates raises important questions about the associated superconducting phase. For example, how does this pseudogap evolve into its below Tc counterpart? In this paper we characterize this unusual superconductor by investigating the nature of the ‘‘residual’’ pseudogap below Tc , and find that it leads to an important distinction between the superconducting excitation gap and order parameter. Our approach is based on a conserving diagrammatic BCS Bose-Einstein crossover theory which yields the precise BCS result in weak coupling at any T,Tc and reproduces Leggett’s results in the T50 limit. We explore the resulting experimental implications. @S0163-1829~98!50834-X#

The Magnetic Origin of dx2-y2 High-Tc Superconductivity from Tunneling Spectroscopy Measurements on Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x Single Crystals

The complete scenario of high-Tc superconductivity based on experimental data from electron-tunneling spectroscopy on underdoped, overdoped and Ni-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x single crystals using a break-junction technique is presented. There are two different types of superconductivity in cuprates: superconductivity due to pairing of spinons on charged stripes and magnetic superconductivity mediate...

Energy gaps in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ cuprate superconductors

The relationship between the cuprate pseudogap (Δ(p)) and superconducting gap (Δ(s)) remains an unsolved mystery. Here, we present a temperature- and doping-dependent tunneling study of submicron Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+δ) intrinsic Josephson junctions, which provides a clear evidence that Δ(s) closes at a temperature T(c) (0) well above the superconducting transition temperature T(c) but far belo...

Theory for Superconducting Properties of the Cuprates: Doping Dependence of the Electronic Excitations and Shadow States

The superconducting phase of the 2D one-band Hubbard model is studied within the FLEX approximation and by using an Eliashberg theory. We investigate the doping dependence of Tc, of the gap function ∆(k, ω) and of the effective pairing interaction. Thus we find that Tc becomes maximal for 13 % doping. In overdoped systems Tc decreases due to the weakening of the antiferromagnetic correlations, ...

Visualizing Cooper Pair Formation on the Atomic Scale in High Temperature Superconductors By

In the quest for a microscopic theory for the superconductivity in cuprates, one hotly debated issue is the temperature at which Cooper pairs first form. Do pairs form at the critical temperature Tc or do they form at higher temperatures lacking phase rigidity? To answer the question, we have developed new techniques, based on scanning tunneling microscopy, to visualize the process of the pair ...

پارامتر نظم ابررسانایی در فلز CeIrIn5

To understand the mechanism of superconductivity in unconventional super onductors is one of the big challenges in the field of superconductivity. Based on the BCS theory, there is a direct relation between the pairing mechanism and the symmetry of the order parameter. Therefore, identification of the structure of the superconducting gap or the order parameter provides key information on the pa...
